This year we will be presenting the Preservation Alumni Leadership Award to current GSAPP HP Director, Andrew Dolkart, HP Class of 1977, for his many years of service and contribution to the preservation program and field in general. The award is given each year to recognize Columbia University Historic Preservation graduates who have significantly contributed to the field. Please join us in recognizing the achievements of Andrew Dolkart, and also to partake in drinks, snacks, and tours of the theatre through the evening.

Please RSVP, alumni may bring guests. We look forward to seeing you May 10th.

More about the Venue: The magnificent United Palace Theatre opened in 1930 and was designed by prominent architect Thomas Lamb. The building boasts over 3,000 seats and was the last of the five Loew’s “Wonder Theaters.” The terra cotta exterior embraces Art Deco, Aztec, Moorish and many other architectural styles and is only bested by the intricately designed interior. The theater closed in 1969 and Reverend Ike purchased the building with plans to transform it into a church. The building is now called the United Palace Theater and serves as a church and performance venue.
