Members Only Tour at Gould Memorial Library, Bronx Community College

Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11am

Our spring members-only tour will be at the Gould Memorial Library in the Bronx on Saturday, May 21st. Designed in 1893 by McKim, Mead & White, the library is "Stanford White’s most dazzling extant structure in New York" (NYT). The library was designated a NYC landmark in 1966 and listed on the National Register in 2012. The interior was designated in 1981. The Preservation League of New York State listed the library on its "Seven to Save Endangered Properties List " list for 2016-2017, stating that "arson and water infiltration have damaged the building and begun to affect the library’s structural integrity, putting the iconic domed roof at risk."

Join Preservation Alumni, Reno Constantino of Bronx Community College, and Samuel White from Platt Byard Dovell White Architects LLP to explore the Beaux-Arts landmark and future restoration plans.

Space is limited so make sure to RSVP to reserve your spot!
