Emily Kahn is a 2021 graduate of Columbia’s Master’s program in Historic Preservation and joined the PA board that same year. While at Columbia, she wrote two successful National Register nominations and was awarded PA’s 2020 Fitch Prize. She also won an Outstanding Thesis Award for her research entitled “Beyond Memorialization: Washington Heights as Case Study for Commemorating Holocaust Refugees.” Prior to Columbia, she received a Bachelor’s in History with a minor in Museum Studies from Colgate University and attended the Preservation Institute of Nantucket. Emily has a background in non-profit advocacy as well as storytelling, museum interpretation, archival research, fundraising, and archaeology. She currently is based in New York City and works at the National Trust for Historic Preservation as the Program Coordinator of the National Fund for Sacred Places. Class of 2021

Bill Morache graduated from Columbia's Historic Preservation program in 2014. At graduation, Bill was awarded the Historic Preservation Peer-to-Peer Award for outstanding service to classmates, faculty, and school. Before attending Columbia, Bill earned a B.A. in History from the University of Vermont. Since September 2014, Bill has worked at AJLP Consulting/Surface Design Group, a facade consulting firm, performing inspections and preparing construction documents for restoration projects in New York City. Bill joined the Board of Preservation Alumni in April 2015. Class of 2014

Ariane is an architectural designer and historic preservationist at Beyer Blinder Belle Architects in New York City, where she works on a range of cultural, institutional, and preservation projects. She graduated from Columbia's dual degree program in Historic Preservation and Architecture in 2019. While at Columbia, Ariane participated in projects and internships focused on adaptive reuse of historic resources in both New York City and abroad, including Mexico and Italy, and took coursework focused on the intersection of sustainability and heritage planning. She has a Bachelor's degree in Urban Design & Architectural History from New York University. Class of 2019

Erica Mollon is a 2015 graduate of Columbia’s dual Master’s program in Historic Preservation and Urban Planning. While at Columbia, Erica participated in projects and internships focused on preservation planning and historic resource surveys both in New York City and abroad, including Myanmar, Trinidad and Tobago, and Albania. Her thesis focused on measuring the social impacts of preservation on communities, particularly those facing economic challenges. Erica is currently a historic preservation specialist and urban planner at AKRF, Inc. specializing in cultural resource field surveys, archival research, and significance assessments for Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) and Environmental Assessment Statements (EAS). Erica is based in Miami, Florida. Class of 2015

Andrea Sforza is an Associate Architect at HPZS in Chicago. With a specialization in historic preservation, her expertise lies in working with existing buildings on renovation, adaptive reuse, and restoration projects across a variety of building vintages and typologies. Prior to her time at HPZS, she spent several years as an architect at Beyer Blinder Belle Architects in New York City where she worked on the adaptive reuse of Eero Saarinen’s TWA Terminal at JFK Airport as well as on other notable structures such as the Gould Memorial Library, Fort Wood at Liberty Island, Jacob Riis Beach Pavilion, and the South Street Seaport Thomson Building. In addition to serving on the board of the Preservation Alumni, Andrea is co-chair of AIA Chicago’s Historic Resources Knowledge Community, promoting preservation knowledge and best practice to architects in the Chicago region, and is a member of Logan Square Preservation, engaging with preservation issues in her local community. She graduated from Columbia's Historic Preservation program in 2017 and has a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

Alex Corey is an architectural historian, real estate agent and preservationist working in the Toronto region. He brings a depth of experience in private consulting and the public sector, including leading building assessments and neighborhood surveys, undertaking research and evaluation of a variety of cultural heritage resources, public speaking, preparing conservation strategies, and producing heritage conservation district studies and plans.
In addition to serving on the board of Preservation Alumni, Alex is currently on the Executive of the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP-ACECP). Class of 2015

Emily Dominijanni graduated from Columbia's Historic Preservation program in 2013 and joined the PA Board in 2018. Prior to Columbia, Emily studied Historic Preservation at Salve Regina University where she participated in the school's local archaeological dig. She began her career doing hands-on restoration of historic wood windows. Emily is currently a junior associate at MacRostie Historic Advisors in Boston where she manages state and federal historic tax credit applications, writes National Register Nominations, and assists in historic permitting and regulatory review projects throughout the country. Class of 2013

Rachel Ericksen is a 2021 graduate of the Historic Preservation program at Columbia where she was a scholar for the New York Preservation Archive Project, a fellow at the Jay Heritage Center and received the student nominated Peer-to-Peer award. After graduation she served as the Adolf Placzek fellow for the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission and is currently a Preservation Planner for the Boston Landmarks Commission.

Adam Lubitz graduated from Columbia’s dual degree program in Historic Preservation and Urban Planning in 2018 and joined the PA Board in 2019. During his time at Columbia, Adam participated in projects and internships based in Ethiopia, Finland, Spain, Haiti, and Palestine, and took coursework focused on international development planning as well as the intersections of heritage conservation and social justice. He has also taught GIS coursework at Barnard College, served as Jewish Heritage Program Fellow at World Monuments Fund, and given tours of Grand Central Terminal for the Municipal Art Society of New York. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Architecture at UCLA. Class of 2018

Katherine Malishewsky is a 2011 Graduate of Columbia’s Historic Preservation program and joined the PA board in 2020. During her time at Columbia, she received the William Kinne Fellows Travelling Prize on “How to Preserve the Ruin: Analysis of Design Strategies and Ambience Qualities in the Reuse of Industrial Architecture”. Katherine is the Director of Preservation at Murphy, Burnham, and Buttrick Architects in New York City. At MBB, Katherine has been working on the restoration of Trinity Church Wall Street and provides guidance to her office on their preservation projects. Prior to MBB, Katherine worked as a Project Manager for Kamen Tall Architects, a façade restoration firm. Class of 2011

Kate Reggev is a graduate of Columbia's dual Master's program in Historic Preservation and Architecture and joined the board in the summer of 2015. While at GSAPP, Kate was the managing editor of Future Anterior and had the opportunity to travel to Brazil, Mexico, Norway, and Ireland. Her thesis theorized contemporary preservation design, earning her the GSAPP Writing Prize at graduation. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in architecture from Barnard College, Columbia University and is an associate at Beyer Blinder Belle, where she works as an architect and architectural historian on a range of cultural, institutional, and preservation projects. Class of 2015

Julie Rosen is a 2012 graduate of Columbia’s Historic Preservation program and joined the PA board in 2014. During her time at Columbia, she received an Outstanding Thesis Award for her research on “Early Twentieth Century Face Brick as a National Industry.” Julie is currently an Associate at Higgins Quasebarth & Partners in New York City, where she consults on the design and appropriateness of a variety of rehabilitation, new design and preservation projects. Prior to this, Julie worked in facade restoration as a project manager. She has continued her research on face brick and has guest lectured on the topic at Columbia University. Julie has a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Minor in Spanish Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Class of 2012

Sarah Sargent is a 2020 graduate of Columbia’s Historic Preservation program, and joined the PA board in 2022. During her time at Columbia, she was the 2020 recipient of the Onera Prize for Historic Preservation and received the Cleo and James Marston Fitch Thesis Grant for her thesis, “Reclaiming the Fugitive Dust: Preserving and Interpreting America’s Forgotten History of Nuclear Contamination”. Sarah is currently a historic preservation specialist at FEMA, where she completes Section 106 reviews for disaster recovery projects. Her research interests include nuclear history and the memorialization of traumatic events. Sarah has a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College. Class of 2020

Tucker Simmons is an Assistant Conservator at EverGreene Architectural Arts, based out of their New York City office. While at Columbia, he was awarded an Outstanding Thesis Award and the Cleo and James Marston Fitch Thesis Grant for his thesis “Testing Protective Coatings and their Removal for Outdoor Bronze Statuary.” Prior to graduate school he worked as a Conservation Technician for Conservation Solutions Inc., now part of EverGreene Architectural Arts. Valerie is a 2022 graduate of Columbia’s Master’s program in Historic Preservation and joined the PA Board after graduation. In 2020 she completed the New York / Paris Advanced Certificate at Columbia. Before that, she worked in finance and was the Director of Investor Relations at a real estate investment firm in Los Angeles. Valerie earned a B.A. in Studio Art with an emphasis in photography from Hope College in 2004. Her love for photography led to gallery exhibitions in Chicago and Los Angeles and, most recently, an artist residency in Paris. Valerie is currently working as an architectural historian in Los Angeles. She is also continuing her thesis research on the Small House Movement with a focus on California cities in the 1920s.

Alan Tabachnick is a Historic Preservation Specialist with the Surface Transportation Board, a Federal agency in Washington, DC. At the Board, Alan is responsible for all aspects of the Section 106 process for projects across the United States, including reviewing surveys, eligibility determinations, effects determinations, agreement documents, as well as coordinating with SHPOs, Native American Tribes, and consulting with the ACHP. Prior to coming to the STB, Alan spent two years with the Federal Transit Administration as an Environmental Protection Specialist, working on large NEPA transit projects across the country. In the private sector, he spent 30+ years working for a number of small to large infrastructure, environmental, and cultural resource consulting firms, leading architectural history, archaeology, and NEPA studies for many complex projects.

Alan lives in the City of Rockville, Maryland, just north of DC, and he serves as a Commissioner on the Rockville Historic District Commission. Alan received his undergraduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania, and his M.S. in Historic Preservation Planning from Columbia. Class of 1986

Armon is a graduate of Columbia's dual Masters program in Historic Preservation and Real Estate Development. Before pursuing degree programs at Columbia, he gained extensive architecture and project management experience with the production, design, and repurposing of commercial and residential assets. Since graduation he has taken on the role of Senior Project Architect at Thomas O’Brien Aero Studios in Manhattan. Class of 2018
