Preservation Alumni Mentorship Program

Some of the most valuable and integral components of Columbia MSHP student professional development are the formal and informal opportunities to network with the program’s alumni. Preservation Alumni has helped coordinate the annual speed networking event, as well as the annual party each year. Currently, PA and the HP Program work together to coordinate a mentorship program to strengthen the student-alumni networking opportunity even further.

The Preservation Alumni Mentorship Program is offered to first-year MSHP students in the second semester of their studies. The purpose of the program is to provide an opportunity for students to clarify their professional interests and goals. We hope that the Mentorship Program will also provide an opportunity for alumni to stay up-to-date with the current program, as well as with each other.

Mentors help students explore their career interests during the academic year, discuss the transition into the professional world, give feedback on their strategy for the job search, and often help make introductions to others in the field. The main goal of mentoring is to help a student achieve their potential and discover their strengths.

If you have any questions about mentorship in general, the current MSHP class, or any other issues, please contact us at mentorship@preservationalumni.org or the HP Program Manager, Devin Gray at dlg2162@columbia.edu.
