Join us for Preservation Alumni's annual Spring Party on Thursday, May 18, 2017. We will be presenting the third annual Preservation Alumni Leadership Award to Chicago-based architect Gunny Harboe, HP class of 1982. Gunny is the President of Harboe Architects, a firm which has worked on many Frank Lloyd Wright buildings in Chicago with great success. He is also a US/ICOMOS Fellow, a founding member of DOCOMOMO_US, and holds leadership positions at an array of organizations dedicated to the preservation of the built form in Chicago. We are proud to recognize Gunny on May 18th!

The award is given each year to recognize Columbia University Historic Preservation graduates who have significantly contributed to the field.

We will also be presenting the Cleo and James Marston Fitch Thesis Grant. The grant is given annually to a Columbia University Historic Preservation student to cover expenses incurred in Master's thesis research.

This year's party will be held at the Central Park Arsenal, one of two buildings within the park which predate it. The Arsenal was designed by architect Martin Thompson and built between 1847 and 1851 by New York State as a storage repository for munitions, though it has been used for park administration since 1857.

Please join us in recognizing the achievements of Gunny Harboe, as well as celebrate the Fitch Thesis grant awardee, and enjoy snacks and drinks with views of Central Park throughout the evening.

PA is also conducting a drive for used Columbia graduation gowns to donate to the Historic Preservation program for us by current and future students. Please bring your old graduation gowns to the party on May 18th for collection!
