For Preservation Alumni, 2011 brought a new website, a 30th anniversary celebration, numerous well-attended alumni events, and a half-dozen new board members. With 2012 now upon us, we’re planning new ways to enhance PA’s engagement with its impressive network of alumni, so stay tuned.
But first, some big news: PA has a new Board President. Ben Baccash (class of 2010) was chosen to assume the mantle of leadership from outgoing President Cleary Larkin (class of 2007). He is currently a Development Assistant at World Monuments Fund (WMF). While at Columbia he concentrated on preservation policy and land use law, with an emphasis on the NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission and its enforcement procedures. The Board looks forward to achieving new goals with Ben.
Preservation Alumni is truly indebted to Cleary after 6 years of dedication on the Board. She brought an infectious enthusiasm and “can-do” spirit to her role as president. Under her leadership PA has undeniably strengthened its mission and broadened its outreach. We wish her best of luck in all of her endeavors.
We also tip our hats to Mikel Travisano (class of 2005), who is stepping down as the Board’s Vice President after several years of dutiful service. His presence at Board meetings will be missed. Bob Hartman (class of 1979) has agreed to fill Mikel’s shoes. Thank you to both of you!
